When I began my journey in social service in 2017, I carried one simple belief in my heart — that meaningful change begins when people are made aware of their rights, given the right guidance, and helped with dignity.

Over the years, this belief has shaped every initiative we have undertaken. What started as an effort to help people with their basic needs and documentation gradually grew into a larger commitment towards human rights, justice, public awareness, community empowerment and access to essential services.

Our journey has been about standing with people when they needed a helping hand.

We have helped more than 6,000 people with documentation-related assistance, helping them navigate important identity and public-service requirements. We have supported thousands of people in opening zero-balance bank accounts, helped hundreds with Aadhaar corrections and identity-related services, provided free PAN-card assistance to hundreds of people, and helped thousands access ABHA Health IDs and labour-related cards and services.

But social service is not only about documents and services. It is also about standing beside people during difficult times.

During the COVID-19 lockdowns, when communities were facing unprecedented hardship, we remained engaged in public service alongside the administration. We distributed masks, sanitizers, food and essential ration, and supported people who were struggling to meet their basic needs. We have also extended support to families and helped underprivileged girls and families during marriages, whenever we were able to do so.

Every blanket distributed, every meal served, every document corrected, every person guided and every family supported has taught us one important lesson — service becomes meaningful when it reaches the person who needs it most.

Today, through HRJF – Human Rights & Justice Forum, we are taking this journey forward with a broader vision.

Our aim is to build a strong grassroots platform where people can receive awareness, guidance and appropriate assistance regarding human rights, legal awareness, RTI, public grievances, government schemes, citizen services, education, skill development, employment opportunities and health awareness.

We want to take this work beyond the walls of an office.

Through door-to-door awareness programs, community surveys, public assistance camps, legal-awareness initiatives, citizen-service guidance and youth skill-development programs, we aim to reach communities directly and understand their real needs.

We also believe that empowering people means empowering the next generation. Therefore, HRJF is working towards creating opportunities for young people to develop communication, digital, field-work, community outreach and professional skills, gain practical experience and move towards better career opportunities.

Our goal is not simply to provide a service for one day. Our goal is to create awareness that lasts a lifetime.

We want every citizen to know:

What are my rights?
What services are available to me?
Where can I seek appropriate help?
How can I raise my genuine grievance?
How can I become more skilled, confident and self-reliant?

The journey ahead is much bigger than what we have achieved so far. With the support of our volunteers, staff, professionals, community partners, donors and well-wishers, we hope to reach many more families and communities across India.

I firmly believe that an aware citizen is an empowered citizen, and an empowered citizen can build an empowered community.

This is the journey we have chosen.

This is the responsibility we have accepted.

And this is the future we want to build together.
